Wtf is this bullshit movie I wasted my time on. Ugh. Emily Blunt deserves better. Seemed to have promise in beginning, even a bit horrory, but the powerful foreboding music became overdone and ridiculous, building up to something that never came. Such a shame bc I liked the character chemistry. The twist is soap opery and by the end I had little sympathy for any of the characters. Plus the whole you're not a wolf ending and her crying character in the end ugh. I mean it goes over the horrors of drug violence but with poor insight and a pretty poorly explained solution. I don't even know how to put into words how much it fails. It makes itself just another revenge movie. The title hints it but I expected more. There are aspects of it that we're well done- the loud sound effects gave a creepy vibe.

Keanu
Really enjoyed it. Didnt mind suspending some disbelief (in the beginning they show Keanu going from kitten to cat to kitten it looks like but cool magical cat) but still would've flowed better logically if through domino effect they just got pulled into it without choice. After a while it's like really in the middle of the gun fight you're still going for the kitten? But really funny. Happy for a sequel but there wasn't really any satisfying ending. Lost steam in the writing unfortunately. The 'fuck me' line from the wife seemed really off and just like fantasy fulfillment. The romance tacked on the end seemed lacking in chemistry. But anyway the fact that all these 'hard' types were willing to fight to death for this kitten made a really cutesy idea.

It's actually quite original. Best when it's about the family dynamics once a husband starts having doubts about his faith in a global warming inspired neoreligion. Some good acting. Idk if the husband is supposed to be the lead but the wife steals the show. There's also added forbidden love drama with the son and an old flame connection between the wife and the religion's leader. Likely to be cancelled unfortunately. I think they erred when they went for the shock factor of making him a murderer, but we'll see where it goes.

Awkward.
Despite the repetitive drama drama, the lack of communication (with so many one liner storm offs) and the romanticization of highschool, this show has actually really authentic moments, an endearing 'awkward' theme, and cute slang... But weirdness with the writing in the last season. The scene where Jenna tells Matty she loves him but she's scared how he'll affect things if he comes there/she doesn't want him there was so good. It was painful and honest and no one was really at fault; it was just hard. But then it somehow gets turned into Jenna just doing it for Matty's good and not letting him run away, which is might have been in part, but I think it makes it too easy. + That scene where they were spending their last moments together in the car just felt really true to life, beautiful, sad.

Hedwig And The Angry Inch
I don't know what to say about this movie... I kept waiting for some larger meaning... Maybe I needed to listen harder to the song lyrics. They were a bit hard to discern in some sections. It got recommended to me as one of someone's favorite movies and what inspired them to theater. It's based around a cute ideology of two halves where once everyone existed as siamese twins before an angry god split them apart and then they had love when they found each other... Which is cute but the two halves thing is really something I never really felt connected to. She lives on one side of the Berlin wall (divisions/binaries theme) and she ends up being lured to this army guy's crotch through candy (yeah, no actually) after which in order to get married and leave the country she needs a sex change operation but it's done by a doctor friend of the mother's who ends up botching it, thus the 'angry inch' and then the husband leaves her and she ends up babysitting for this family and falling for their son who she makes music with before he leaves her, taking her music but leaving the things about her he dislikes, and she joins new band, is generally sad and pissed off and he ends up saying he's sorry and then she makes up with her bandmate (didn't really get, there's reference to them being married as well??) and then walks through the streets naked... exposing/accepting(?) her full self (but still seems kind of a depressing scene, with the naked person walking from dark alley idk, I really feel like I'm missing something). End credits. The character is well-created and well acted but ... what was the plot, the point?? I definitely get how it's a movie for those who have felt outcasted, unaccepted, trying to find themselves, giving something new and original, being outcasted for difference... It had that book to movie feel where things weren't really fully explained and felt rushed. Everyone who's watched it seems to have liked it so... Cool. Good trans rep. Nice songs.

House of Lies
Feel like this show's been getting worse. I love the emotionality of Marty looking into the camera, his monologues. The show is well-acted, good chemistry. Bitter, confident, cursing, a bit morally questionable characters. But they're made too unlikeable to the point of no sympathy. Lots of casual sexism, lots. Don't really know why I watch any more. For the actors basically.
