Bad writing. Promises twists, tricks and secret societies but it's all really rather dull and ridiculous. One of their tricks includes a long scene of them passing a card between each other. You have to completely suspend believability and not ask questions.
Lizzy Caplan is so wasted as the "girl horseman" I could scream. The only good part about this film was surprisingly Daniel Radcliffe. I haven't seen a movie I liked him in in a long time but he does comedically evil very well.

Good movie but too Hollywood.
-Good comedic writing, I'd forgotten, but sometimes overdone, characters say a joke at expense of authentic humanity.
-Unbelievability was huge holey issue in script. This group of people sitting like ducks being fired at and they were all okay. He grabs her hand midair. Only side characters die etc. etc. Better writing would've made it feel more authentic.
-Too much tell, not enough show. (Like his realization that he has something loud and obnoxious, we get it, you don't have to drag it out or state it outright especially when the next scene would just cut to it come on!)
-A Beastie Boys song defeats the army and saves millions. I mean... I enjoy a cathartic song moment but again better writing to keep me from feeling like really? really? just gonna play a song hm. hm okay. but I will still enjoy this.
-We're in the future and for some reason all the main characters are white dudes. Get me more female characters plzzz.
-Spock x Uhura my logic x emotion babiessss. Stop breaking them up in every movie and learn to actually write relationships...?
-So much buzz for having an LGBT relationship. A huge deal but rep wise only slightly better than Dumbledore. If you didn't know beforehand maybe the other dude is his brother or something you know? I heard they cut one of their scenes which is just such BS. Sulu's husband only get 3 v. short scenes, and if you're actually giving a shit about this and looking for him, the last scene has him with a weird expression on his face amidst a smiling crowd. It should've been found in editing if they gave more of a care, unless it was meant to convey something which was lost?
-Still had that spacey, adventurous, epic, get lost in another world vibe and great character chemistry and dynamics.
-(Okay but seriously if they had it scripted that Scotty say "lassy" one more times I would've supported his death.)
